Heat Pumps

Heat is widely available in the air, ground and water around your house. These natural sources of heat are constantly replenished by the sun, wind and rain. A heat pump system will harness these free and renewable energy sources for heating your house and supplying hot water at a very low cost. The role of the heat pump is to ‘pump up’ heat from a low temperature source, for example the air around your home and release it at a higher temperature into your central heating system. There are three main types of heat pump available, those that take heat directly from the air, from the ground or from water sources (rivers or wells). Ground source heat pumps come in two varieties – vertical bore or horizontal loop.

In Ireland the most common systems used are air source and ground source heat pumps.
We supply both and will recommend to you the best solution based on your circumstances and requirements. Heat pumps can be installed on both new builds and also retro-fitted to existing buildings. Heat pumps coupled with underfloor heating and space heaters can offer significant savings in comparison to alternative heating systems. As a SEI recognised supplier, significant grant aid is also available for certain projects and DAL will advise you on your entitlements. We will also assist you in completing any grant applications. DAL is sole supplier of Aermec heat pumps in Ireland.
Heat pumps are becoming more and more popular in recent times for several reasons:

  • They meet renewable energy requirements on all new builds;
  • They can offer signifcant cost savings;
  • They reduced CO2 emmisions;
  • They can be retro-fitted to improve building efficencies and BER rating.
